ISF Engages with Global Agri-Food Leaders at IFAMA 2026

Cork, Ireland — ISF participated in the 2026 IFAMA World Conference at University College Cork (UCC) on 15-19 June, contributing the voice of the global seed sector to discussions on building more resilient and sustainable agri-food systems.

Held under the theme “Rooted in Resilience: Revitalizing Agri-Food Systems for an Uncertain Tomorrow,” the conference brought together academics, students, policymakers, industry leaders, and development organizations from around the world. Through dialogue and collaboration, participants explored how innovation, resilient production systems, and international partnerships can help agriculture respond to future challenges.

Next Generation of Agri-Food Leaders

Throughout the conference, ISF participated in several key events highlighting the importance of knowledge exchange and collaboration across the agricultural value chain.

During the Global Case Study Competition, students from 15 universities around the world worked intensively over three days to develop recommendations for the Minister of Agriculture on accelerating the adoption of emerging technologies by farmers. The competition demonstrated the creativity and commitment of the next generation of agricultural leaders in addressing complex policy challenges.

ISF also joined the Speed Networking session, connecting with talented students and early-career professionals to exchange perspectives on careers, research opportunities, and leadership within the global agri-food sector.

Strengthening Collaboration Across the Value Chain

The conference concluded with a panel discussion moderated by newly-elected IFAMA President Ronald Guendel, highlighting the importance of stronger collaboration across the agricultural value chain. Representing the seed sector, ISF’s Director of Sustainability and Crop Value Chain Engagement, Ben Rivoire, joined leaders from FONTAGRO and AGRAYA to explore opportunities for a collaborative initiative to improve farmers’ access to quality seed.

The initiative, which could be further developed in the lead-up to the 2027 IFAMA World Conference in Lima, Peru, would bring together expertise in plant breeding, seed systems, enabling policy, financing, certification, and capacity building to support sustainable agricultural development.

ISF welcomes opportunities to work with partners across the agri-food value chain to advance practical solutions that strengthen resilient farming systems and improve farmers’ access to quality seed worldwide.#
