ISF at COP30
The International Seed Federation (ISF) is participating in the UN Climate Change Conference COP30 in Belém, Brazil, bringing the global seed sector’s voice to the heart of climate action and food security discussions. Guided by our statement, “Climate resilience starts with seeds,” we are advancing our shared vision for a more sustainable future.
At COP30, ISF is organizing two panel discussions and will be engaging with partners, media, and stakeholders to highlight the role of quality seeds in building more sustainable and resilient agri-food systems and helping farmers and their communities adapt to the impacts of climate change.

ISF will organize two panel discussions to be held at the Empraba Agri-Zone in Belém.
Panel 1: “Healthy Lands, Healthy Lives: A One Health Vision for Climate-Resilient Agriculture”
- Date: Monday, 17 November 2025
- Time: 12h40-13h55 local time (GMT-3)
- Venue: Auditório 3, Embrapa Agri-Zone, Belém, Brazil
- Partners: ABRASEM, MAPA
- ISF Lead: Dr. Rose Souza Richards, ISF Phytosanitary Affairs Manager
What this is about?
- This session brings the One Health approach, which recognizes the interconnectedness of human, animal, plant, and environmental health—including seed health—into the heart of climate discussions.
Expected outcomes:
- Recognition of Brazil’s leadership in linking land restoration, plant health, and climate adaptation through policy and practice
- Clear engagement pathways for private and public sector actors and producers to adopt climate-resilient, One Health-aligned approaches.
- Identification of research priorities and innovation gaps to drive collaborative solutions in early warning and ecosystem-based adaptation.
Panel 2: “Seeds of Resilience: Harnessing Improved Varieties for Climate Adaptation and Food Security”
- Date: Wednesday, 19 November 2025
- Time: 11h20-12h35
- Venue: Auditório 3, Embrapa Agri-Zone, Belém, Brazil
- Partners: ABRASEM, IFPA
- ISF Lead: Benjamin Rivoire, ISF Sustainability and Crop Value Chain Manager
What is this about?
- As climate change intensifies pressures on land, disrupts agricultural calendars, and threatens global food security, improved crop varieties stand as a frontline defense. This roundtable will explore how innovation in plant breeding and strengthened seed systems can drive resilient, adaptive, and sustainable agri-food systems.
Expected outcomes:
- Shared understanding of how improved seeds underpin climate adaptation and food security strategies
- Insights into policy and investment frameworks that accelerate equitable access to improved seeds
- Case studies demonstrating measurable gains in yield, resilience, and sustainability through improved varieties
- Opportunities for cross-sector collaboration, linking public, private, and research partners to drive adoption of climate-smart seeds
- Actionable recommendations for integrating seed innovation into national and global climate commitments under the Paris Agreement
Partnerships & Media Engagement
Throughout COP30, ISF will engage with policymakers, partners, and members to drive forward practical, science-based, and collaborative solutions, bridging agricultural productivity, biodiversity, and plant health under one shared goal: a climate-resilient agri-food system for all.
